Update

As we begin the 2nd quarter I wanted to give you an update of where the classes stand.

Red-
We have been working for awhile now on simplifying algebraic expressions. We will have our formal quiz on this tomorrow. Ch. 3 is an important chapter for the formation of early algebra skills.

Green-
We are beginning Ch. 2 on fractions. Students will have their first formal quiz next Friday.

Students in both classes will be missing 5 days of math instruction beginning on 10/28 due to the Outdoor Skills Program.

There will also be a three day break in early November for conferences and Veteran's Day.

Chapter 1 Exam Red Math

Students took the chapter 1 exam on Thursday in class. Grades will posted Monday. Students who missed the test must make it up ASAP.

Red Math Chapter 1 Exam Thursday

Students should begin studying for the Ch. 1 exam. Using notebooks as resources will be discussed in class Wednesday. I usually recommend 15-20 minutes of concentrated study over the two nights leading up to the test.

Grades and Other Info

Grades for both math classes will be entered for the first time today. I anticipate the gradebook to be fully updated by 3 PM. In the future, grades will be entered every 3-5 school days.

MAP testing begins tomorrow (9/8) and runs through next Monday (9/12). Classes will meet sporadically through this time and we will cover some interesting puzzles and brain games instead of our regular curriculum. There will be no formal assessments during this time.
